Here’s a new twist to get us just slightly off of the soap track for a minute. How about clean and all natural, household cleaners? “Clean cleaners” you ask? What’s cleaner than clean? How about non-toxic healthy cleaners? (pay close attention to the details at the end of this contest as they are different from previous contests!)

Lora says,

“We learned about the strong chemicals found in common household cleaners. These chemicals can damage skin and are fatal if swallowed. But there are also long-term effects, such as lung cancer, chemical sensitivity, allergies, headaches, fibromyalgia, and others.

Knowing that there was already a history of headaches, chemical sensitivity, and fibromyalgia in our family, we wanted to find an alternative to the cleaning products in our home. More research revealed a few recipes to try. We discovered these mixes cleaned just as well, if not better than the store-bought chemicals we had used before. Since I was pregnant at the time, it was a relief not to worry about the fumes I inhaled while cleaning. As I began to play more with the aroma of the recipes, I even began to enjoy cleaning!”

I am pleased to introduce you to a relatively new company called Barefoot Home Essentials. With a name like that I can say that I would not worry about covering my feet while cleaning the shower using any of Lora’s cleaning products.

Barefoot Home Essentials has a small but unique line of safe and natural household cleaners that I think you will be interested to try. I especially like the idea of the Cinnamon and Spice all purpose spray cleaner. I don’t know what my current product is supposed to smell like but I know it’s not a natural or inviting smell by any stretch!

To enter this contest you really must go and visit Barefoot Home Essentials then come back here and post some of the household cleaners that you currently use and what scents you might be interested in having in an all natural household cleaner. This contest is open until Monday, September 3rd at 11:59 p.m. A winner will be chosen by way of random selection using a random number generator and will be announced early next week!

Also, though I do not require you to post anything on your own blog about my contest in order to win, I do these contests in order to draw attention to small business owners on the web so I would love it if you would spread the word so that these hard working women can get as much advertising as possible. Big name companies have t.v. and magazines and billboards. Small businesses have the blogosphere. Let’s make it work for them! Feel free to nab a button here to put in a post or in your sidebar this week!

  1. The cinnamon and spice all purpose cleaner sounds wonderful. I’m always looking for something natural without all the chemicals.

  2. I use simple green but I hate the licorice scent. I hear that they have a new scent but I haven’t seen that one in the stores. I like Mountain Berry windex, but if I had to pick a scent for a cleanter, it would be lilac.

  3. I like the Lavender scent. I need to use more kid-friendly products. I know I’d remember what I used if I cleaned more often. 😉

  4. well, if i was only going to get one, it would have to be the all purpose cleaner…. and as for scents, i like the fact that they don’t use vanilla… it’s too sweet and cloying to smell clean. lavender, citrus (i love grapefruit as a scent), etc. hmm. what else? i also like herbs – sun-warmed rosemary is a winner. never thought about it as a scent for a cleaner, though.

  5. I use Lysol Bathroom Cleaner, and love it! I do hate the fact that it’s not natural, but haven’t found anything else that I like better. I would try the all purpose cleaner, but am not a fan of cinnamon. But, I’m up for trying anything once.

  6. I currently use vinegar & hot water to mop (not the most inviting smell), Method pink grapefruit surface cleaner, and Lysol for the bathrooms. I love the sounds (or smells) of Lora Lynn’s cinnamon & spice, or the lavender. I’m quite partial to the scent of my pink grapefruit Method as well. Thanks for a chance to win!

  7. I hate the smell of commercial cleaners but the smell I would like is from a rubber stamp cleaner for scrapbooking. It’s bubblegum.

  8. I use Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, Windex Glass Cleaner, Mr Clean Magic Eraser, Clorox Anywhere Hard Surface Daily Sanitizing Spray etc… I would love to have a product that smells like Grapefruit or has a citrus /herb smell to it. I also love the smell of freshly cleaned clothes so something with a linen scent would be marvelous!

  9. I try not to go overboard on cleaners, I use Windex, Pinesol, Murphy’s Oil Soap, and a few others. I would love a chance to try out these natural cleaners and see how they work! I think the reason I have never tried “natural” products is that I am afraid of having to scrub and scrub and scrub…and not have the cleaning product work!

  10. I use windex, method (from Target), Pinesol. I just recently bought Mrs. Meyer’s to see if it was good. I would LOVE to try the all purpose cleaner- cinnamon and spice, WOW!His,Mrs. U
