Today’s Fun Monday is hosted by the lovely lady of Tiggerlane who wants us to list 5 things that we want to do before we die.  Is it really fun if it includes the word “die” in it?  How ’bout just ask, “If you are on your death bed, dying of a woeful mix of scabies and scurvy and small pox and consumption and leprosy, all while enduring a painful case of gout (I just love “old fashioned” disease names) what things would you regret having not done?  Just kidding.   It actually is a really cool Fun Monday question.  That’s the only reason I joined in!  Good idea Tiggerlane!

So, here follows my list and though I have numbered them, they are in no particular order… besides that they are ordered numerically.

  1. I would like to take pictures of people as a means of making money.
  2. I would very  much like to live to meet my Great Grandchildren.
  3. I would like to pay off the mortgage.
  4. I would like to buy a Mini Cooper.
  5. I would like to stay married to The Pastor until I am 90 and he is 95.  Or longer.  (I have promised him that he can smoke a pipe and get a motorcycle when he turns 95 so he has some motivation for living that long.)
  6. I would like to become a labor/delivery support person/ coach or doula… maybe for young unwed mothers.
  7. I would like to make a quilt.
  8. I would like to stop being afraid of flying.
  9. I would then like to fly to Ireland, Greece, Italy… okay all of Europe with our whole family when the boys are teenagers.
  10. I would like to play on a co-ed indoor soccer team for old fogies who can’t really play but like to think they can, with  The Pastor again.
  11. I would like to learn patience… without having to learn it on others through failure. (Wishful thinking…)
  12. I would like to become organized.  Really and truly organized.
  13. I would like to meet Hugh Laurie.
  14. I would like to publish a book (a book that I’ve already mostly written but haven’t looked at in over a year.)
  15. I would like to see all my boys happily married to wonderful godly women who challenge them and complement them at the same time.
  16. I would like to feel really ready to die when I am almost there… no matter when that is.

Okay.  I think that’s it.  For now anyways.

  1. Your very first one on the list would be a great deal of fun, and a good vocation too!! I’m not very good at photography tho. LOL

My Fun Monday is posted. I had a good time this week, voicing my opinions on Fun Monday.
    Happy week to you.

  2. Lisa, I missed it as we had our College and Careers group from church here for Bible study… ALL of us in that group are House fans so it was hard to not just turn it! LOL One person taped it so we may all just watch it next week *after* Bible study. :^D

  3. Oh, Lisa’s Chaos… I know what you mean! But alas… I do want to be patient! Whatever it takes… I’ll power through. :^D

  4. I think your list is well worth living for! (smiles)
And I noticed your F. Schaeffer quote (new?). I recently read L’Abri and am plowing through another book of his. Quite a man.

  5. Having children was never on my list – but now I can add something more – getting to meet great-grandchildren. (But, part of me suspects not. Considering I had children later in life, I’ll be lucky if that happens – and I’m not wanting my kids to have babies as teens, ya know?)

Make a quilt – I’ve always wanted to do that too. I guess I need to go take a quilting class!

  6. New item for the Bucket List: finish reading everyone’s Bucket Lists! This is insane! Great list, though, Nan.

I would like to just be able to take better photos of people, money or no. (I wouldn’t turn any money down, but it is secondary.) I just want to be comfortable enough taking the pictures and for the people I’m photographing to be comfortable and natural as well. There’s this little diner in town where all the farmers go for coffee. I want to be brave enough to walk in there and take pictures:o)

  7. A marvelous list for sure! I especially like the part about the motivating the pastor to hang in there forever! Very Nice! I think you would have no trouble making money from taking pictures, you do have a certain talent in that department. Mind you, I could see you making money from writing as well.

Now when you all get over flying, let me know, I will put on a good old fashioned aussie party for you all. Make sure you all arrive at the same time.

  8. old fogies? OLD FOGIES?
Speaking of old fogies, I’m still working on patience. In fact, I’m losing it more as I grow older. I want everything yesterday. That is what I’m going to add to my list. No, not patience… Everything yesterday!

Taking photos (portraits) would be an excellent way to enjoy a livelihood.

  9. I despise the dream sequence ploy, also. But I can sing all the songs – I completely get you about the Musicals…..
Your after-nap pictures are the cutest ever. Think about the “fumb” damage later.
And I can not for the life of me figure out how you are NOT making a living taking pictures….

What are your thoughts?
