I just have to tell the world that I am forever indebted to Jamie Oliver. I think I shall write him a fan letter. You know why? My man, The Pastor, has cooked dinner three times in the last 7 days. Thanks to Jamie Oliver and his free five minute podcasts. The Pastor is all about making stirfry now. YUMMY stirfry. I think my favorite that he’s made so far is his Chicken Chow Mein. So good.
And I also must add that I LOVE Jamie’s accent. I love how he says “wiff” instead of “with” (and I always wonder how people with this lovely accent spell the word “with”?? These are the questions that make the world go ’round you know.) And I love how he always says, “I would be well chuffed wiff that. Well chuffed.”
Jamie Oliver is different than a lot of guy cooks on t.v. and the internet… he’s a total guy. I think this is why my husband can take cooking lessons from him and not feel puny about it. My husband now wants to cook dinner two or three times a week.
I owe Jamie. I should buy him a Christmas gift or something to show my gratitude. But I don’t know what I’d get him. I think he’s just kinda sorta rich.
Hmmm, where do I find this guy’s cooking demonstrations? My hubby (very Irish) makes a mean pot of homemade Italian “gravy” (I weaned him off of Ragu when we married) but I’d like him to branch out a bit….
Dot O’s last blog post..Back To Reality – Tomorrow
Hey Dot, Jamie Oliver’s cooking podcasts can be downloaded from iTunes. I’m not sure how many are up there… but then you can find several on his website too. I don’t know what channels he is on (we are cableless.)
Thanks Nan! I will check it out.

Hi Nan. Thanks for your comment on my blog! It’s always fun to meet new people in blogworld. I took a quick look at your “about me” page, and I think if you lived in the States, and perhaps in my state, then we would be able to hang out and watch movies together. I mean, who can you find in 2008 who loves The Sound of Music? And by the way, I love your farmer’s market photos. Gorgeous!

Thanks for coming by Meili! Yay! :^D I’d love to watch movies with you. There has to be a good handful of us “out there” who still enjoy a good musical. We were raised on them. (Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, Singin’ in the Rain…) I’m a sucker for old movies and musicals. Hope you have that baby soon! :^D
Great reading that other people love Jamie! In the UK he’s just done a series and released a book teaching people to cook in 24 hours. It’s a great, easy-recipe filled book that gives you lots of tools and ideas that you can tweak and make your own. Have a look on amazon.co.uk for “pass it on”. My husband loves it.
