Nothing to say

Even though you’re here;

Not an airwave

Or a wire

Or even a pen

Or a word as it were.

But a greyness descended.

Our voices have ended.

The music, it echoes

Of laughter’s delight

But the casket is closing

To the silence of

Earth’s long night.

Your shadow grows long

As your tempo slows

And a lump rises in my throat

As I rise early to sing

The song of my someday repose.

Will this glass ever fall

Or will the waters prevail?

Will we again speak

Or will silence swallow us whole

To our final farewell?

What are your thoughts?
