I’ve been reading some of Margaret Sanger’s writings lately to catch the many obvious flaws but also the many ironies in her thought processes in order to elucidate the trajectory of ideas that led to Planned Parenthood in its current diabolical iteration. Ironically she nailed some real societal ills. She effectively calls out Christians for not adequately caring for the poor. Of course her disdain for the “unfit” and “deformed” is prevalent. But some of her assessments were legitimate indictments of our failures to meet the real and myriad needs of the poverty stricken mothers. Her solutions to these problems are obviously severely misguided. But what I’ve found really interesting are how many of her quotes can easily be substituted by our cries on behalf of the unborn. Here’s just one.
“Why should these countless fathers and mothers, almost one million times greater in number, surrender to these few monster exploiters–to this Capitalistic System which bases its existence on the fiendish exploitation, and ultimate murder of these children?”
Put that in the context of the abortion economy. It’s chilling. And truly… It is a capitalism entirely devoid of morals.
One of the other things is to read how Sanger felt about abortion. She considered it a necessary evil but certainly a scourge. I say this not to defend her in any way but to suggest that if you were to use even Planned Parenthood’s founder’s well-reasoned arguments against abortion as a safe/harmless procedure, they would absolutely shoot you down.
This is one of her own quotes.
“While there are cases where even the law recognizes an abortion as justifiable if recommended by a physician, I assert that the hundreds of thousands of abortions performed in America each year are a disgrace to civilization.”
But her own monster has grown into a capitalistic horror house where this disgrace is at the center.
