This song was our comfort on one of the hardest days we have endured together. We held onto each other and cried our eyes out as this song beat its rhythm on our eardrums and hearts. It will never not make me cry because that day ripped us wide open, but it was in that ripping that he was removing branches that bore no fruit and deepening our rootedness in his goodness, grace, and mercy alone.

If you are feeling ripped open, don’t lose hope. I say this as one who wrestles still with what looks like a barren field. But there is life underneath all that dirt. I just know it.
